A companion beach to Khlong Prao, Hat Kaibae is a good spot for families and 30-something couples. A slim strip of sand unfurls around an island-dotted bay that's removed from the worst of the package tourist scene but still has plenty of good bars and restaurants along the main road. There is kayaking to the outlying island of Ko Man Nai and low tide provides hours of beachcombing.
