Alcalá del Júcar's landmark castle with its pentagonal main tower is of Almohad origin, but what you see today dates mostly from the 15th century. Aside from taking in the great views from the ramparts, you can also visit the casa-cueva, just below the fortified walls. This cavelike dwelling, full of period furnishings, shows how residents lived a century or so ago.
