Al Wajh Castle

Northern Saudi Arabia

Built in 1875 towards the end of the Ottoman period as the headquarters of the municipality, this rectangular fort with its surveillance tower and small courtyard has been fully restored and is due to become the Al Wajh museum. A small collection of photos of the beautiful ruins in Al Balad (old town) were already up at the time of research, but the main reason to visit is for the brilliant views over the port from the fort's upper floor.
