Caparra Archaeological Site

San Juan

Only the foundations of a small fortress remain at Caparra, the site of Juan Ponce de León’s first Puerto Rican settlement, established in 1508. Located on a commercial section of Hwy 2 east of Bayamón in Guaynabo, this is a site for die-hard history buffs. The one-room museum contains Taíno artifacts, items excavated from the site and historical documents.
