If you'd like to squeeze in a little break this fall to see the change in foliage in New England, you might want to avail of Amtrak's latest two-for-one deal, as well as new discounts which see fares drop as low as $30. Just in time for Thanksgiving too, the deal is valid for travel at present through Saturday, December 12, 2020.
The two-for-one deal is valid on all Acela and Northeast Regional (NER) trains throughout the Northeast Corridor (NEC) – from Boston to Virginia. There are some clauses: tickets must be booked before September 30 and it excludes travel dates on Fridays and Sundays. November 24, 25, and 30 are blackout dates too. But, in addition to the two-for-one deal, travelers can purchase discounted fares from $30.

Ask LP: which day should I travel to avoid Thanksgiving crowds?
Passengers on Northeast Regional trains can travel between Richmond, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., or Norfolk, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., for only $30. Or travel from New York to Philadelphia from $56, to Boston or Baltimore from $69 or from Philadelphia to DC from $56. Most fares are under $100.

In addition to deals and discounts, Amtrak has updated its website and app so customers can see how full their reserved train will be in real time when they're booking tickets. This will help passengers choose less crowded trains and will allow Amtrak to limit the number of travelers on trains to help with physical distancing. Families and friends traveling together will easily find seats next to each other. If traveling alone, customers may place their personal belongings on the seat next to them on an empty seat.
“Prioritizing health and safety, we continue to provide customers with new, innovative measures that promote physical distancing and contactless travel,” said Amtrak President and CEO Bill Flynn.
