Mausoleum of Mohammed V

Top choice in Rabat

The present king’s father (the late Hassan II) and grandfather were laid to rest in this marble mausoleum, which is decorated with exquisite examples of Moroccan craftwork, including colourful zellige (geometric mosaic tiles) and carved plaster. Its carved cedar ceiling is covered in gold leaf, and is quite magnificent. Royal guards wear traditional garb. Visitors must be respectfully dressed and can look down into the tomb from a gallery.
