During the nesting season, the state government collects thousands of newly laid olive ridley turtle eggs from 40km of beach, incubating them in protected beachside nests and releasing the hatchlings when they emerge seven weeks later. At this center located on the main road about 3km west of the lighthouse (mototaxis charge M$15), you can stop in to see the turtle nursery.
