A glint of St Petersburg on the Mount of Olives, this shapely church was constructed in the style of a 17th-century Russian Orthodox church. Built in 1888 by Alexander III in memory of his mother, the church is now a convent and guards the relics of two Russian saints. Its seven golden onion-shaped domes form one of Jerusalem’s most attractive and surprising landmarks.
