Hotel Cambodiana

Phnom Penh

Construction started on this landmark hotel back in the 1960s, but it was only open for a few months before civil war engulfed the country. Lon Nol converted it to a military barracks in 1970 and it later became a Red Cross refugee centre in 1975. It opened its doors as the first five-star hotel in Cambodia in 1990, but is no longer considered one of the top addresses in the city.
