Built in the 1860s using convict labour, this stone complex includes a courtroom, cells and stables, and operated as the Toodyay (then Newcastle) lock-up until 1907. The whole place then fell into ruin until it was restored in the 1960s and '70s (local school kids dug the mud out of the well). A gallery tells the story of famed local bushranger Moondyne Joe.
