In accordance with current rules, passengers arriving at the Viennese airport must either present a medical certificate not older than four days that confirms negative COVID-19 test findings or else they are required to begin a 14-day quarantine. The airport has now introduced a service where passengers can undergo molecular-biological COVID-19 testing directly on site, and the results will be available within a period of two to three hours. The laboratory is accessible via a roadside entrance, and a specimen is collected using a throat swab. If the test turns out to be negative, no 14-day quarantine in Austria is necessary.
Positive test results are immediately reported to public authorities, who will initiate appropriate steps to treat the affected person. In addition to the COVID-19 test results, passengers departing from Vienna will be given a document for the purpose of entering their designated destination, enabling them to prove that they have not been infected with the coronavirus. It is wise to note that this depends on entry requirements and is subject to the approval of the national authorities at the respective travel destination.

For trips lasting no more than four days, the quarantine obligation does not apply for passengers returning to Austria if they underwent COVID-19 testing shortly before departing from Vienna Airport and can present a health certificate showing the negative COVID-19 test results. This testing service is available to anyone and not just passengers at Vienna Airport at a cost of €190 ($205.97).
