Sweden's Minister for Home Affairs, Anders Ygeman, announced on Wednesday that the country will be introducing temporary border controls in the south of the country from noon on Thursday, in an attempt to control the number of refugees and migrants entering the country.
Checks will be instated at the Öresund Bridge (which connects Sweden with Denmark), and at ferry terminals in the south. The border controls will initially take place for ten days, but Ygeman confirmed that they could be extended to 20 days. Swedish Migration Board spokesperson, Mikael Hvinlund, said they has requested the controls as they 'can no longer guarantee shelter' to those arriving in the country. Read more: thelocal.se
