Twenty-seven new stations have been added to Shanghai’s metro network as extensions to three lines opened over the weekend.

The extensions to lines 11, 12 and 13 opened 617km of new track on the system. Currently the Shanghai metro operates 16 lines, with plans to begin construction on four new lines in 2016, to be operational by 2020. A dedicated station on line 11 is also set to open next year at the soon-to-open Shanghai Disney Resort. Read more: shanghaiist.com
