Thousands of spectators will line the streets of the UK capital for the 35th London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday morning. The favourites include Kenyan athletes Wilson Kipsang, who broke the course record last year, and Dennis Kimetto, the world record holder, who is making his London Marathon debut. David Weir is aiming to win the wheelchair race for a record seventh time. The 40,000 competitors include Formula 1 driver Jenson Button and five British MPs. The oldest competitor is 90 years old and many runners will be in fancy dress – one, Gemma Kirkham, is attempting to beat the world record for a female athlete dressed as a framed painting, which stands at 4 hours 30 minutes.
