The Tate Modern is one of London’s most popular museums, and now visitors will be able to see the new installation from renowned American artist Kara Walker.
On display in the Turbine Hall is the artist's new work, Fons Americanus – or fountain of America, which is inspired by the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace. According to the Tate: "Rather than a celebration of the British Empire, Walker’s fountain explores the interconnected histories of Africa, America and Europe. She uses water as a key theme, referring to the transatlantic slave trade and the ambitions, fates and tragedies of people from these three continents. Fantasy, fact and fiction meet at an epic scale". The piece will be on display until 5 April, 2020.
