The elderly female, known only by code name F_MU1, lived in the region of Tsavo for more than 60 years. Her long tusks are very unusual and weigh more than 100 pounds on each side. At the time of her death by natural causes, she was only one of about 20 of these 'big tuskers'. The photos are part of a new book Land of Giants which was produced in partnership with the Tsavo Trust to promote the cause of these beautiful creatures. All photos were taken by Will Burrard-Lucas and you can read more about his intimate encounter here.
