Five uniquely-designed egg-shaped pods have been unveiled in the middle of a tropical jungle in Costa Rica, where guests can immerse themselves in the environment and take in views of the nearby ocean. Together the pods form a part of Art Villas Resort, a new glamping spot.

With views out over the Pacific Ocean, the resort has a collection of villas (each one designed by a different architectural firm) and one multifunctional tropical pavilion with facilities for guests. Located on a steep 2.5-hectare tropical jungle slope above Hermosa Beach near the Costa Rican town Uvita, the site is surrounded by trees.

Each pod is entrenched in the jungle and according to the creators, designed for “brave” people who like to feel as if they are up amongst the trees. The experience also offers massage, sauna, and yoga, as well as access to the spa pavilion and professional fitness room. Surfing is also available to visitors in the nearby ocean where whales can be spotted seven months of the year. Playa Hermosa recently became the first beach in Central America to be awarded the title of "World Surfing Reserve."

“Since I was a young boy, I’ve been fascinated with treehouses. I watched TV shows about treehouse construction, read every book on treehouses I could get my hands on, and searched the internet for that perfect treetop abode. The trees on our property are not fully grown, but I wanted the pods to nestle over and amid vegetation to give the feeling of being on top of the trees,” owner Filip Žák said. More information is available at the ArtVillas website.
