More than 600 people are waiting to get married in the Republic of Ireland, after same-sex marriages became recognised on 16 November.

There will be a 24-hour delay on weddings due to legal procedures, but ceremonies are already planned for Tuesday 17 November in Dublin, Cork and Galway. The change in the law comes after a referendum held in May saw 62% of people vote in favour of same-sex marriage. Read more: independent.ie
