As the weather gets colder across the countries of the Northern Hemisphere, the beautiful red, yellows and oranges of the autumnal colours provide some cheer to people starting to shiver. A combination of the right amount of sun and chill brings the spectacular colours bursting from the leaves and, as these photos show, there's plenty to get leaf-peepers excited across Europe and North America.
